Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner
stormed into the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, beating
Russian Karen Khachanov, a semi-finalist last year, 6-4, 7-5,
6-3 on Sunday.
The world number four, who is aiming to win his first Grand Slam
title, has not yet dropped a set in Melbourne this year.
Although he again prevailed in straight sets, Sinner said
Sunday's test was far tougher than those he faced in previous
rounds.
"It was for sure a different match today," the 22-year-old said.
"I felt like we both were hitting the ball really well from the
back of the court.
Every match is obviously different. It's a pleasure to be here
(in the quarter-finals). Obviously happy with the outcome of the
match".
Sinner will take on the winner of the match between Andrey
Rublev and Alex de Minaur in the last eight.
