It is possible that Pope Francis will
recover from the bilateral pneumonia he is being treated for in
Rome's Gemelli hospital in time to meet King Charles III as
planned during the British monarch's visit to the Vatican and
Italy next month, a senior Vatican official said on Tuesday.
"I have not seen the Holy Father. I have seen him in
photographs, he is improving, I know he is improving," Cardinal
Mauro Gambetti, the archpriest of Saint Peter's Basilica and
Vicar General for the Vatican State, said on the sidelines of an
event for the foreign press.
"'If it has been announced, I think it is one of the
possibilities, I think that they will be able to do it," he
added when asked about the scheduled audience on April 8.
