The Vatican will conform that King
Charles III will be received by Pope Francis a few days before
the event, the Vatican press office said Tuesday after
Buckingham Palace announced a possible audience on April 8.
The Holy See announces state visits to the Pope "always only a
few days before the visit itself", it said.
It also explained that Charles' visit to Italy, "more complex"
than the meeting with the Pope, had in any case been planned for
some time.
Francis has been battling pneumonia in a Rome hospital for over
a month and will not be discharged imminently.
