The European Union will present its
assessment of member states' 2024 budget laws on November 21,
European Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni said on
Sunday.
"We are working on it," Gentiloni told journalist Monica
Maggioni during the In mezz'ora programme on Rai Tre.
The Commissioner recalled the "key messages" of last year's
recommendations: "to try to reduce extraordinary support
measures on energy costs and to preserve space for public
investment".
"Preserving investment and caution on current spending are two
of the recommendations" for the EU assessment, he added.
On October 16 the government signed off on an 28-billion-euro
package of measures allegedly seeking to help the less wealthy
sectors of society in particular against a backdrop of extremely
high public debt.
The budget bill is currently before parliament.
