Istat said Friday that its index for
the hourly wages of workers covered by national collective
bargaining agreements rose by 3.1% on average during the course
of 2024.
The national statistics agency said that, with the help of weak
price growth, there was a "first noticeable improvement" in real
wages last year after two years of decline.
It said there were above-average increases were registered in
the industrial sector (+4.6%) and private services (+3,4%).
Istat said 49.2% of employees in Italy - about 6.4 million
workers - were covered by national collective agreements for the
wage setting at the end of 2024.
