Fincantieri said Wednesday that it has
landed an order to built four massive cruise ships for Norwegian
Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH).
The State-controlled Italian shipbuilder defined it as a "very
important" agreement, meaning that it is worth over two billion
euros.
Market estimates put the value at around nine billion euros,
making it the largest order in Fincantieri's history.
In a statement, Fincantieri said the ships will weigh
approximately 226,000 tons and be the largest ever built for
NCL.
It said they will be built at its Monfalcone shipyard, with the
first being delivered in 2030 and the others to follow in 2032,
2034, and 2036.
"With over 5,100 berths, the ships will be able to accommodate
over 8,300 people, including crew," Fincantieri said.
