The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Giorgio Silli, made an official mission to Lima, focusing on international adoptions and strengthening ties with the Italian community in Peru.
During his visit, he met representatives of the main Italian and Peruvian institutions, such as COMITES, CGIE, the Chamber of Commerce and Italian companies, as well as the Vice President of the Commission for International Adoptions of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
Silli also held meetings with the Minister and Deputy Minister for Vulnerable Populations, Fanny Esther Montellanos Carbajal and Carlos Jesus Vilela del Carpio, to discuss cooperation in international adoptions, an area in which the two countries collaborate fruitfully. These talks took place on the eve of the international seminar 'Adoption: an interdisciplinary look', organised with Peru's Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations.
Subsequently, the Undersecretary met with Peru's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador John Peter Camino Cannock, to discuss regional and international policy issues.
Another significant meeting took place with the Mayor of Lima Metropolitana, Rafael Lopez Aliaga Cazorla, who presented Silli with the Medal of the City of Lima.
A central aspect of the mission was the meeting with the top management of the Ministry of Transport, where Silli discussed investment opportunities for Italian companies in Peru, a country that continues to offer excellent economic prospects.
"This mission reaffirmed the strength of our bilateral ties, with a special focus on cooperation in the international adoption sector. We are satisfied with the opportunities Peru offers to Italian companies and we intend to further strengthen our cooperation, particularly with the local authorities, to promote the rights of families and individuals,' said Silli.
The mission was also aimed at promoting the Italian business system in a country with many economic opportunities.
