Italy captain Michele Lamaro said
Friday that the Azzurri are gunning for victory in their Six
Nations match against Wales on Rome on Saturday, while stressing
that their opponents remain dangerous despite their poor form
and the heavy defeat they suffered against France in their
opening game.
"The ambition to win is strong within the squad," said Lamaro.
"But, with their backs against the wall, a team like Wales is
capable of producing things that not everyone have.
"It is a team that has a whole nation behind it, with a lot of
history and culture, a nation which experiences this sport in a
different way.
"This is what makes me wary.
"They feel threatened, it's like it's their last chance.
"There's pressure because our expectations are high. We are
putting pressing on ourselves.
"Focusing on the performance is what matters.
"The start of the match will be fundamental.
"In (the opening day defeat in) Scotland we conceded too much,
especially in the first 10 minutes.
"They will be pumped up and pushing back right away will be
fundamental.
"This is our home and no one must be stronger here than us.
"We want to set things straight from the start".
