Marta Kos, EU Commissioner for
Enlargement, who has been in Serbia since yesterday, visited
Novi Sad, in the country's north, to pay tribute to the 16
people killed when the roof of a local railway station collapsed
on November 1.
In a message posted on X and reported by the Belgrade media,
Kos, who laid flowers at the accident site, spoke of "a tragedy
that could have been avoided." "My heart goes out to the victims
and their families." Nine people are currently in prison as part
of the investigation into the collapse, with three others being
held under house arrest.
