"I am confident that the problem
will be resolved quickly and that Merz will become Chancellor;
Germany's stability is also critical in preventing the rise of
populism," said Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, in response to
the Bundestag's rejection of Merz as German chancellor in the
first round.
"It is not my place to intervene in German internal affairs,
but I believe that having a stable government in Germany is
advantageous for Europe and everyone," Tajani stated.
