During his official visit to Italy and Friuli Venezia Giulia, the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini also stopped at the Port of Trieste this afternoon, thus strengthening the dialogue and cooperation between Italy and Slovakia in the economic and logistical fields. He was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár, and the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Italy, Karla Matiašco Wursterová, According to a note, Pellegrini met with local institutions and later with the managment of the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, Vittorio Torbianelli and Antonio Gurrieri.
They made together an institutional tour of the port by sea aboard with other local authorities and operators.
The visit, the note added, provided an opportunity to highlight the strategic role of the Port of Trieste in connections between the Adriatic and Central Europe. In particular, the ongoing cooperation between the logistics system of the Port of Trieste and Slovakia was emphasized, with the shared goal of further developing intermodal and rail services connecting the two territories. The meeting concluded with the willingness to strengthen the economic partnership, confirming the role of the Port of Trieste as a gateway to the sea for Slovakia and as a logistics hub of reference for Central and Eastern Europe.
