A senior US official said in a call
on Premier Giorgia Meloni's visit to the White House to talk to
United States President Donald Trump Thursday that Italy's tax
on web services penalizes American companies.
"On trade, President Trump is very clear: he wants fair policies
and duties, which offer access to international markets for
American workers and industries," the official said.
"Therefore, without anticipating the talks, the president will
reiterate his expectations towards Italy and Europe, also on
fiscal issues: for example, the Italian tax on digital services
is seen as a measure that penalizes American companies"
